Key Information
Full time role : part time will be considered.
Working hours span from 8.00 am to 5.45 pm.
No Sundays, late nights or Public Holidays.
Locations: ACO Dandenong Clinic and Carlton on an ad hoc basis.
Optical Dispensers and Patient Services Representatives are a key part of the patient journey and support the wider clinical function, providing exceptional customer support through the ACO’s dispensary services.
This position is responsible for the efficient processing of prescriptions to exact specifications and general patient facing dispensing duties. This role requires engagement with various stakeholders through professional liaison with staff, external suppliers, and patients of the ACO.
This position, primarily based at our Dandenong Clinic, will be the first port of call for a diverse patient base accessing exceptional care through ACO clinics. The role operates with a degree of autonomy with a focus on maximising patient numbers through proficient dispensing, administration and customer service. A part-time position will also be considered.
This role may require the post holder to work Saturdays.
Accountabilities
Provide exceptional customer care to patients.
Explain all current fees and patient financial responsibility and inform patient of payment required for existing balances due at or before next appointment.
Provide advice to patients regarding services and appointments including accurate input of patient details and allocation of appointments.
Manage patient book, ensuring clinic is running at optimal capacity.
Assist patients with selection of frames and other dispensary services.
Verify exactness of finished lenses and spectacles ensuring they meet required standards.
Maintain patient records to ACO standard.
Follow up with patients when they are a ‘no show’ for an appointment
Willingness to cover other sites as required.

A good telephone manner.
A second language may be an advantage.
Experienced in patient management software.
Cert IV in Optical Dispensing
Essential Criteria
Previous dispensing and customer service experience is required for this role.
Motivated to serve the community and people experiencing disadvantage.
Developed computer skills (including basic Microsoft Office Suite).
An understanding of OHS principles and risk reduction.
Desired Criteria
Experience in working for a not for profit, or public health organisation will be well regarded.
