Job Description
About the Role
As a crucial member of our clinical team, our Optical Dispensers plays a key role in delivering high-quality care to our patients by supporting optometrists and ensuring each patient receives tailored advice and expert assistance with their eyewear needs. Based primarily at Carlton, this role is central to the patient experience and to the success of our ACO clinics.
With an edging lab on site, this role gets to work side by side with our lab technicians, if you're wanting to open your eyes up to more complex dispensing, this is an ideal role for you.
This position offers a relative level of autonomy and responsibility, with a strong focus on dispensing, customer care, and efficiency. You’ll work closely with patients to provide personalised frame and lens recommendations, manage orders, and ensure all optical products meet the highest standards - helping maximise patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Accountabilities
Provide exceptional customer care to patients.
Explain all current fees and patient financial responsibility and inform patient of payment options.
Provide advice to patients regarding products.
Assist patients with selection of frames and other dispensary services.
Complete quality control of finished lenses and spectacles ensuring they meet required standards.
Maintain patient records to ACO standard.

About you
As an experienced optical dispenser with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, you thrive in a clinical environment, working collaboratively with optometrists and clinical teams to ensure every patient receives eyewear solutions that are tailored to the individual.
You have a strong understanding of optical products, lens technology, and frame fitting, and you take pride in guiding patients through their options with clarity and empathy. With excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality, you ensure all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and meet individual needs. You will be motivated by providing outstanding customer service and making a real contribution to patient’s vision health. Teamwork is key within our clinics; you will be a team player supporting the overall goal of clinical excellence across our clinics.
Skills and Knowledge
A passion for and experienced in providing exceptional customer service.
Demonstrated understanding of optical products, lens technology, and frame fitting.
A flexible attitude, be reliable and comfortable working in a team environment
A second language may be an advantage.
Experienced in patient management software.
Essential criteria
Previous dispensing experience is preferred for this role, although strong healthcare experience will be considered.
Motivated to serve the community and people experiencing disadvantage.
Developed computer skills (including basic Microsoft Office Suite).
